Product Review: Furious Fists Elite Trainer Box

Hey guys!

Today's review is for the new Elite Trainer Box that was released with the Furious Fists set.  Mine came in the mail today so lets dive right in!  Like Plasma Storm, Plasma Blast, and XY this set features a box for "Elite" trainers, although some of the stuff included might not be so elite.

The box retails for about $40 (although I just got mine on sale from Amazon for $33, and free 2-day shipping with prime!) and comes with the following:

-8 Furious Fists Booster Packs
-65 Mega Lucario Sleeves
-45 Energy Cards
-6 Furious Fists themed dice
-1 larger coin-flip die
-Acryllic poison and burn condition markers
-Players guide booklet
-The box itself, along with 4 dividers

Lets go one-by-one and talk about each item.

8 booster packs, obviously as booster packs always are, how good this is will be up to the universe and your luck.  Price-wise if you buy single packs(which are up to like $4 each in stores) this is worth like $32, so if you like the rest of the stuff in the box, its actually a decent deal.

The sleeves: personally I think they are pretty crappy.  The quality of all the elite box sleeves is pretty bad, they break easy and I think the silver background is ugly.  Nonetheless, 65 sleeves is enough for a deck(plus 5 extras for when they break) and if you like Mega Lucario you will probably enjoy these.

45 energy cards, 5 of each type.  Honestly I have no clue why these are still included.  Anyone who is an elite trainer and will actually shell out the cash for one of these, most likely has no need for extra energy.  I would love to see these replaced by a coin, or figure, or pin or something.  But if you are just getting started and need some energy, these boxes provide a good start for it.

As a collector I think the dice from these are pretty cool.  They are probably my main motivation for buying the boxes.  You get 6 damage counter dice, and 1 larger clear flip dice.  The 1 is replaced with the set symbol, as has been the pattern with the elite boxes before.  The condition markers are also pretty neat and made of a stronger acrylic than the crappy cardboard ones.  The downside there is that they have been included in every box, so after buying them for a few sets I now own 3 or 4 sets of the markers.

The rest of the stuff is kind of just filler.  You get a players guide booklet, which has a full card set list that's pretty cool.  But personally I make my own spreadsheet to keep track of what cards I have, and trying to keep up with a book for every set would just get messy.  It also gives a few tips on what some cards can do, but for the most part anyone competitive would already know them.  The box itself is great for storage.  Its rectangular and fits most place better than tins do, plus it comes with some themed dividers(seen in the picture above) to help separate whats in the box.  I usually end up using the box for all my extra cards from that set.

Overall I think theres enough stuff in these boxes to make them worth the money.  Although the energy/condition markers get repetitive, every new box brings new sleeves/dice as well as a cool box and the 8 booster packs.  Hopefully I have some luck with them when my wife gets home later and we open them up!  Anyways thanks for reading, and heres a link to get this box on Amazon if any of you are interested:
